My friend Lain Ehmann has written a very cool book titled, Snippets: Mostly True Tails from the Lighter Side of Scrapbooking. Lain's a cutie and sooooo funny, too.

Because of this...

You almost never see the faces of African-American children on the covers of scrapbooking magazines. Yet in our diverse country, it seems natural to me that Makena, Tina Cockburn's super cute daughter, should grace the cover of Simple's latest issue. Way to go, Simple!

Yippee! My friends' book is now available for preorder. I'm talking about The Organized and Inspired Scrapbooker by Wendy Smedley and Aby Garvey.

You may remember that Aby helped me plan and organize my new studio space. And my space is one of the featured spaces in the book. Can you tell I'm psyched? Can't wait to get my hands on this one.

This will be brief...

Necessarily brief because I'm about to leave for the airport and return home from California and CHA.

Let me tell you something. CHA is exhausting! CHA is always exciting, eye-opening and fun. But most of all, CHA is exhausting. Whew!

I have no pics to share but here are my favorite highlights from this year's Winter show:

Best New Product

Okay...this one is a tie. You'll drool when you get your hands on the new Tinkering Ink line. Kezia is a talented designer with a delightful personality. You're going to love her designs. But you wanna know what the best part is? This company has taken the bold step of offering their entire collection on CD in digital format! What?!? Yep...you heard me correctly. The manufacturers are finally starting to get it.

The other new product that generated a lot of excitement is the DreamKuts cutter and Bind-it-All binder from Zutter. I have a feeling this is not a new product...but it's new to me! In a nutshell, this system is what I've been looking for. It's a wire binding system that will cut through almost anything! Chipboard...plastic...CDs...and of course paper and cardstock. The cutter makes perfect cuts everytime. Okay, I'm rushing to finish this post and words fail me right now. But trust me, this thing is seriously cool. The booth was mobbed and if you bought their introductory show special (which of course I did) you got a cool suitcase/roller bag with a nice fluffy bathrobe inside. That was just a nice bonus because I would have bought the thing without the suitcase. It's just that good!

Most Fun Event

Well that would have to be the booth bash celebrating Simple Scrapbooks' 5th birthday. We had a gorgeous cake, lots of party guests and wonderful prizes. The best part for me? Seeing all my Simple friends who I only get to see at shows. And as if the party wasn't enough, we all went out to dinner together after. I love these women...I really do!

Best New Person I Met

That's an easy one: Miss Addie Julian...Stacy's cuter than cute new baby daughter. She was seriously sick of us fawning women, but boy were we happy to meet her.

You've probably already heard, but...

Since the Simple Scrapbooks digital special issues have been so popular... 
And by popular demand from readers...
Simple Scrapbooks is introducing a new magazine that will be 100% digital scrapbooking and available for subscription! Yay!

That's what I've been doing in Salt Lake City this week...planning with Lin Sorenson, Lynda Angelastro & Molly Newman. This is so exciting! The Editorial and Creative Boards have been selected and we've got the cream of the crop in digital talent. We've got great plans in store for all you digital divas and digital wannabes. So much cool stuff in the magazine AND a cool new website...just for digital scrapbooking.

a box of junk?

NOT!

Today is happy mail day. A box from Junkitz arrived chock full of cool stuff. I love my job!

   

Just today I was thinking that I needed a small bag to put all my junk in when I go to Europe next week. And then this appeared...

Seriously! I'm not kidding! I was just thinking about it today. And then this cool bag from Tim Holtz just showed up. Spooky... Kind of in the "Ask and it shall be given" category, y'know? It's a folding bag that has four individual clear compartments. All stretched out it's about...oh...i'd say...16 or 17 inches. And it folds up to a nice compact 7" x 8". I love the colors, don't you?

Yes, indeedy. Today was definitely a happy mail day.

screwy e-mail!

While I was in Las Vegas my e-mail database went all screwy on me and locked me out. (Okay, leave it to Microsoft to find a way to make working on a Mac a pain!) I've finally got it running again but I lost a ton of messages. If you have sent me an order for the CD calendar templates and cases and haven't gotten a response, please send it again. I probably lost it.
